A Legendary Defense Dies So The New Can Arise

It was an impressive run. The Seahawks Cover-3 defense was dominant for years. The scheme let the players play fast, free, and loose. No thinking. As with all great defenses, and smart offensive mind will come along and eventually solve it. And that's just what has happened to Carroll's defense in recent years. A monumental shift has occurred this offseason with the Seahawks firing Ken Norton, hiring Coach Hurtt, and bringing in two secondary coaches in Sean Desai and Karl Scott to oversee a revamping of the back end in coverage. Gone is the simplicity, and in its place is complexity. On this Hawk's Nest Episode, I'm going to discuss where Carroll's defense went awry, and how the Cover-2 shell may possess the solutions to their recent defensive struggles.
