DSCF6192 - Mechanical Analog Electric Meter

This may be one of the last Mechanical Electric Meters installed. It's still in service in 2017. Since all the new ones are digital, I figured it was worth recording this, so people who've never seen one, can get an idea of how they work.

The horizontal disk is basically an electric motor, driving the dials, which are analog. The hands don't "click over" when the next-lower dial returns to zero, it's more like reading a clock with five hands, where two of the hands are going counter-clockwise.

(The radio in the background is receiving an NPR report about Donald Trump. This has nothing to do with the meter, other than that the meter is supplying power to the radio.)
