I visited Maine to drop by one of the last shoemakers in the area's once thriving industry, Rancourt & Co! You might not know that there's more than one way to make that little stitch on the toe of a "moc toe" boot (or shoe), and what many consider the most authentic way of making them is seldom practiced today.

A genuine handsewn moc is a dramatic difference because it's basically an upside down boot: picture standing on leather, wrapping it up over the top of the foot, and stitching it together. That's a genuine moc toe, and it means better comfort, especially over time — at least, if you listen to the believers!
