ABBA have a dark side?? Reaction to ABBA - The Visitors.

So this was suggested to me by HorseHollerer (sorry I assumed you was male in my vid) and they said that this wasn’t typical ABBA and that there was a dark side to this. I was instantly intrigued. I have a bit of a soft spot for Sweden (as you can tell by my awful attempt at speaking Swedish!)

So the song was really interesting. The lyrics were great, really great and dark too, so thanks HorseHollerer! The music was actually uplifting towards the end and although it seemed strange and sounded like two halves of different songs mashed together, it still worked!

Since recording this, obviously I’ve watched the video again to edit etc and the only thing I notice is that I don’t think I took the time to appreciate just what the lyrics were saying to me. They were indeed very dark, but for some reason I didn’t feel compelled to take note of them. Looking back at it again, I wonder how much of that was because of the music??? If the music was a lot slower, darker to match the lyrics, would I have listened more? I think I possibly would have.

Overall I thought it was great to hear this side of ABBA and I’m sure this isn’t the only song they did with these kind of serious lyrics.
