Moving Medicine Forward is a Full-Time Job

Over the past three years, we have been extremely grateful to work with a remarkable medical student, Zach Burns, who volunteers part-time to coordinate our outreach efforts to other students and medical schools. Now, he is Zach Burns, D.O., as Dr. Burns recently graduated from medical school and has entered his residency program, which will be more than occupying his available time.

Because Dr. Burns will be devoting his time to his patients and training in Family Medicine, we are now seeking a new Program Coordinator who can work full time to help fulfill our mission. This person will contact and cultivate relationships with nutritionally-interested medical students and faculty at medical schools around the globe. Through these relationships, the Program Coordinator will help organize online presentations by Dr. Klaper of his lecture, “What I Wish I Learned in Medical School About Nutrition.” The presentation will be followed by a Q&A on clinical aspects of using plant-based nutrition as a key to disease reversal.

After his presentation, Dr. Klaper and Moving Medicine Forward will maintain supportive relationships with each of the liaison students and/or faculty with frequent Q&A and plant-based Journal Club sessions. All students will be invited to attend the monthly Plant-Based Clinical Nutrition Forum and MMF will help encourage and arrange guest speakers, such as plant-based medical specialists, dietitians, pharmacists, nurses and other health professionals.

To keep the flame of applied nutrition alive in medical education and clinical practice, our prospective Program Coordinator will have community organizing and program management skills along with the experience necessary to help us develop, implement and improve this program for years to come.
