Ukraine: Briefing on the humanitarian situation
The crisis in eastern Ukraine has become protracted. Civilians continue to bear the brunt of a conflict that affects 5.2 million people, 3.5 million of whom require urgent humanitarian assistance and protection.
This virtual briefing organized by United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) will be an opportunity to update Member States and partners on the current humanitarian needs in Ukraine particularly on the 2021 Humanitarian Response Plan.
The briefing will be moderated by Ms. Reena Ghelani, Director of Operations and Advocacy, Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
It will also include remarks by:
- E. Mr. Ihor Yaremenko, Deputy Minister for Reintegration of Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine
- E. Mr. Sergiy Kyslytsya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations in New York
- Osnat Lubrani, Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine
- Irina Maslovskaya, General Coordinator, Médicos del Mundo, Ukraine
Member States and partners will be given the opportunity to take the floor, followed by closing remarks. The event will be conducted in English.
