How To Fix Any Laptop With Black Screen Issue

This video will show you how to troubleshoot and repair a laptop computer with a black screen issue. This is where the screen stays black or dimly lit when you try to start it but is turning on otherwise, showing lights or other signs of life.

Q: What if I only have one RAM slot?
A: Then you would need to purchase another stick of good RAM to perform that test.

Q: My RAM is integrated into the motherboard.
A: If your RAM is build into the motherboard, then you wont be able to test for it separately. If its bad, then the motherboard is bad. Move on to the rest of the video. What was the result of the external monitor test?

Q: What if after all these steps my screen is still black?
A: If after all these tests your screen is still black and wont display to an external monitor, then you have identified the Motherboard as being the bad component. It will need to be replaced.

Q: None of the steps worked but my computer will display to an external monitor.
A: If the first series of tests do not identify the issue but your computer will display to an external display, then your looking at an LCD or LCD cable issue most likely. Try 'reseating' the cable first. Unplug it from the motherboard and the LCD. Then plug it in again. If that fails to correct the issue, replace the cable. If that fails to correct the issue, replace the LCD.
