20 Long Years - A Layne Staley Tribute

A tribute that I’ve made for Layne Thomas Staley, who passed away on this day 20 years ago.

Layne Staley was the first frontman/singer who captivated me with his impeccable vocals and stage presence. Many have attempted to recreate the same atmosphere that his voice could produce, but it can never be duplicated. He was well known for his down-to-earth personality and rock n’ roll attitude, but there were many layers to him that the world wasn’t fully aware of. Many personal struggles as well. And it would be these struggles with addiction that would eventually cost him his life at 34 years young.

The reason I made this video was not to exploit his death but to serve as a reminder to everyone that he shouldn’t be forgotten. He, just like his bandmates that he broke into the mainstream with, has left a lasting impact on music and it is important that we continue to treasure what he has given us.
