In a startling incident on May 30, 2025, Odisha Vigilance officials raided multiple properties linked to Baikuntha Nath Sarangi, Chief Engineer (Plan Roads) of the Rural Works Department. During the operation, Sarangi attempted to dispose of unaccounted cash by throwing bundles of ₹500 notes out of his Bhubaneswar flat window.
