This is a quick video of our 1956 Flat Fender Dodge Power Wagon. We've owned it now for about ten years. When we got it the paint was in pretty good shape, but the previous owner was not a mechanic. His solution for leaking coolant was to pour more stop leak in. Which is why he sold the truck in February....
Fortunately, I'm not into painting, but most of the mechanical stuff I can handle. The engine, front winch, rear PTO, transmission PTO, transmission, brakes, six driveshafts and pretty much everything else has been rebuilt.
People laugh because I'm so picky about leaks... I've learned how rebuild the the PTO, transfer cases, transmission and have them not leak oil.
This truck sports the original Flathead 230 cubic inch Chrysler engine. It's been entirely rebuilt with new pistons, ground crank, bored 30 over, new water distribution tube and Pertronix ignition.
The brakes work well. I can lock up all four wheels easily. It has about 1/2" of pedal play, which is spec.
The truck is not fast... 100 ponies pushing almost three tons with 5.81:1 gears means it's quite happy at about 30-40 MPH.
This truck sports a rear PTO and the King Sealey Governor to regulate the engine speed when using the PTO. I've seen one governor for sale in the past ten years... And I bought it.
The winch is a Braden MU2 10,000 winch. It's connected to the PTO on the transmission, so you need someone in the truck on the clutch to engage it. It can be dangerous to use... I use winches all the time, but not this one...
