Being part of the cast launched the careers of future megastars such as Pamela Anderson and Jonathan Taylor Thomas. The crew even campaigned to have Hilary Clinton guest-star. Not everyone stayed the entire run. Patricia and Tim both turned down a lucrative offer for a ninth season, believing it wouldn’t last longer than that. Jonathan also left to pursue a higher education.

Talks of bringing the show back in a reboot are iffy. Tim loves the idea of at least a one-off special or movie. Patricia says she and JT were never approached about such an idea. The loss of Earl who played the enigmatic Wilson would also change the entire cast dynamic.

There are secrets behind the scenes they’d have to overcome. Tim is a sitcom dad beloved throughout the world with a dark past and criminal record. Zachary and Tyran managed to avoid drug troubles that plague child actors but don’t have spotless lives. Home Improvement also has plenty of goofy secrets. Eagle-eyed viewers can notice stunts gone wrong and visible crewmembers.

Those kinds of shenanigans were part of what gave Home Improvement its charm. It was a light-hearted show about the difficulties everyone faces when trying to improve their life. That made it relatable and funny.
