Horsforth: Newlay to Calverley Bridge

The Newlay area of Horsforth is in the valley bottom where the Leeds-Liverpool Canal, the Leeds-Bradford railway and the river Aire sit side-by-side. We cross the bridges and turn west to see Newlaithes Manor - the oldest property in Horsforth that was built by the monks of Kirkstall Abbey.

Re-crossing the railway we drop down to the river Aire and walk under the concrete Ring Road bridge to bring us out at the bottom of Calverley Lane.

Finally, the river is re-crossed again over the packhorse bridge to end at the Railway pub - a misnomer as it's located between the river and the canal!

Former Calendar presenter, Geoff Druett, walks the route and provides the commentary.
