Choreo #1 LADYSTYLE kiz fusion online-class | SOLO EXPRESSION intermediate | Danielle de Jong

HI guys!

WELCOME to my brand new YouTube channel! From now on I will start uploading the online classes and short practise video's here and on my instagram -and facebook account (Danielle de Jong - Mixture Kiz).

So here it is, my first online choreo video: HOME PRACTISE edition!
This video was part of a one-hour kiz fusion online-class but due to a system failure while exporting I lost the files of the first part of the class.

Luckily I could restore some footage of the second part, which was the choreo explanation. So I hope you still enjoy this part!

The first part contained the technical explanations and exercises (basics - saïda's - armmovements - bodymovements - taps vs weighttransfers and so on). So for these techniques I will record and upload some short video's so you can still use these for practise!

For now: ENJOY and let me know your thoughts and questions in the comments!

A lot of (virtual) hugs and kisses.

⬇️
LEVEL: The level is based on the level of my students. You can adjust these movements and steps to your own level, body, skills and style.

Short tips for the exercises:

- Balancepoints
Find the balance points in your full foot and at the front of both feet, so your toes and the part that connects your toes to your foot (I've learned this from dancing on barefeet) Where is your weight when you're dancing solo and with a partner? To the front, straight or to the back? Knowing this will help you to become more aware of your balance and how you can use and train this. Want to know some helpful exercises? Let me know!

- Weightransfers
Knowing the difference between a full weighttransfer, a half one and a tap. Making your steps smaller will help you to become more aware, more fast and more precise in your weighttransfers.

- Taps and crosses
When tapping and crossing, try to keep your hips 'locked' and your core tight (contracting your abs). This will help you to make your taps more controlled and more clean. Not transfering the full weight while making a tap and try not to make the tap'range' too big (you will lose balance faster and also lose time)

- Basics, basic 2 variations, ginga, upperbody and lowerbody
There are a loooot of awesome video's now-a-days about BASICS and ginga! These fundamentals are the first things to master. I'm using a lot of small upper and lowerbody movements in my solo fusion dances. I will make a short video of the exercises I practise daily!

- Turns, spins
In the video I'm not going in deep on the techniques due to losing the first part of the onlineclass. A few techniques to make the turns more easy:
* know your balancepoints
* know where your balance is before you prepare the turn
* difference between weighttransfers and taps
* keeping your head above your shoulders in a tap-turn, explained in the video (only 'spot' when it's a fast full (or multiple spin)
* keep a tight core (contracting abs)
* keep your legs straight but never lock the knees!

- Knees never locked
That leaves me at this subject. Which is something that has to be the case pretty much alll the time. Sometimes it looks like my knees are locked due to straight legs. But I never lock the knees. Why? Well, in a few years I'll probably thank myself for not having painful knees hahaha. Also, while keeping your knees a BIT bend, you will be more stable, grounded and will also move and switch faster. Questions about this? Let me know!

- Saïda variations
I will do a short video with 2 or 3 saïda variations. For now I'm using the 'twist/smooth' saïda. Instead of walking to the front with your right leg on the 3th count, you will put it together with your left (connect) and switch your weight fast (count: 3, ánd) so you can walk to the front on the 4th count with your left leg. No worries! A better explanation is on it's a way. A big TIP for saïda variations tho; aaaaalways be aware of when you can use it in a partnerdance! Saïda variations can make your dance look more smooth and dynamic, but ONLY on the right timings. Sometimes there is no time for any variation when your lead is about to do an 'unexpected' move. Listen to your lead and try to find the right timings to experiment with the variations.

- Stay connected to the ground
Most of the times I'm constantly connected to the ground (in my solo and partnerdance) this will make me more stable and balanced. Trying to avoid stepping high or big in order to make the movements more smooth and controlled.

- Control, abs and small steps
Control is a key word in any dance. When you're aware and have the control over your own body, you will be able to grow a lot faster in your dance. Small steps will help you with this as well. (Have you seen my previous post about the resistance bands? These work sooooo well for this topic!) Control over your bodymovements, your core and your steps will give you a lot more confidence in your dance and probably your daily life as well!

So if you have any questions about all of this, LET ME KNOW😍🙏
