Behind Closed Doors at Extrude Hone

Recently PDI had the pleasure of going behind the scenes with Extrude Hone in Irwin Pennsylvania to show the detail taken as a PDI Exhaust Manifold goes through the Extrude Honing process.

As the industry leader in diesel aftermarket components, PDI, uses Extrude Hone’s Abrasive Flow Machining (AFM) process to enhance the precision of their exhaust manifolds. By utilizing the Extrude Hone AFM process it maximizes the performance and longevity of the PDI Exhaust Manifold..

The AFM process uses pressure to force abrasive media (a putty-like material) throughout the ports and runners of the exhaust manifold. As this media travels through the manifold it removes any imperfections that may have been left during the casting process. The manifold is left with a smoother interior surface.

Airflow is an important component of the performance of an engine. With stock manifolds and competitors, the imperfections left within their manifold will increase wall drag and therefore increase heat and friction. As the wall drag is reduced on PDIs Exhaust Manifold the airflow increases , removing residual heat, and increasing life by helping to prevent warping and cracking – while also increasing performance.

PDI’s partnership with Extrude Hone enables PDI to offer an industry leading 3 Year Manufacturer’s Warranty on their exhaust manifolds. To learn more about PDI’s visit and the AFM process, check out the video below!
