Nuss Procedure in India

A leading pectus excavatum surgeon from India explains the Nuss procedure. In this video, he described the Crane tech procedure through which a stainless steel bar is placed near the chest bone for deformity correction.

The surgeon uses a spectroscope instead of a thoracoscope. In the horoscope, it will be possible to see only one side from where the stainless steel bar is inserted into the chest. It increases the chance of injury to the heart the surgeon cannot see the other side. With the help of a spectroscope, it becomes easier for the surgeon to view where the stainless steel bar is going during insertion, therefore, lesser chances of injury to the heart. If the heart is injured during the procedure, the patient may crash at the same time. Using the crane technique any kind of mediastinal injury is avoided.

Parks Pectoscope is fitted through a pore and taken out from the other side of the chest. It helps in viewing the chest completely, from one side to the other side. The surgeon shows in this video, how this spectroscope works and helps in avoiding any kind of injury to the heart. After the stainless steel bar is placed, flax fixators are used to make sure that the bar doesn't move. It fits bars at the desired position. At the end of 2-4 years, bars come out which are removed as and when the deformity is no longer there.
