Today, I compare the Steinhart Ocean 1 GMT to the Rolex Explorer 2 based on comfort, versatility, originality, construction, and prestige. The Ocean 1 can be found in the market for around $650, while the Rolex can be found for 10x the price that of the Steinhart, for $6,500.


It’s not surprising that the Rolex superior in almost every aspect possible. But that is to be expected. Why? Because Rolex is a more expensive product. Is Rolex worth the 10x price disparity? In my opinion, yes. But that doesn’t mean Steinhart doesn’t have a place in the market for buyers. Not everyone wants to spend thousands of dollars on a watch, even if they do retain value. Or some people are just starting out in the hobby of watch collecting and they don’t want to go all-in
