Shaper Cross Slide Support

I completed the cross slide support for the Gingery shaper as I follow book 3 in the series. The cross slide is a fairly important piece as it supports the cross slide.

After completing the shaper, should I:
*Plan on continuing with the Gingery mill?
*Start working to cast iron first?
