Crab Orchard & Egyptian 17 - America's Last Freight Hauler
From the time it took over freight operations from the Illinois Central Gulf in 1977, went freight only in 1978, and until it dieselized in 1986, the Crab Orchard & Egyptian Railroad was the last common carrier railroad to rely on steam power. This is a look at 2-8-0 #17, the last steam locomotive to operate exclusively in freight service in North America.
