Loki Cut Off a Goddess's Hair as a Prank — The Punishment Created Thor's Hammer #shorts

Loki had a habit of getting himself in trouble. And then trading his way out of it.

One night, he found Thor's wife asleep. Sif had long golden hair famous across the Nine Worlds. Loki cut it all off, down to her scalp. When Sif woke, she wept. When Thor came home and saw her, he was about to break every bone in Loki's body. Loki promised to fix it.

He went to the dwarves under the mountain. The first family agreed to help. They forged real golden hair that would grow on her head like her own. And while the forge was hot, they made two more gifts — a spear that never missed (Gungnir) and a folding ship that fit in a pocket (Skidbladnir).

Loki then wandered to a second dwarven family and bet his head that they could not make finer gifts. The second family lit their forge. Loki turned himself into a fly to sabotage their work, biting one dwarf on the eyelid. The dwarf flinched. Their hammer came out with a too-short handle.

But still, they made three gifts: Draupnir (a ring that dripped eight more rings every nine nights), Gullinbursti (a boar with bristles of pure light), and the hammer — Mjölnir. The gods chose Mjölnir as the finest gift. The dwarves had won the bet.

They came for Loki's head. Loki said: my head, yes. But I never wagered my neck. You cannot take one without the other. The dwarves could not argue. So instead, they sewed his lips shut.

Sif kept her hair. Thor kept the hammer. And Loki kept his head — barely.
