North vs South: Why are some South Indians angry at the Modi govt?

Not many would have expected Narendra Modi to be greeted with 'Go Back Modi' banners and balloons when he visited Chennai in 2018 for a defence expo. But they weren't angry at Modi. They were angry at the central government for its perceived bias against Tamil Nadu in the Cauvery water dispute.

This is only one of the many issues that the South Indian states have against the centre. Three of the main issues are related to Hindi imposition, financial transfers, and political representation.
