Review: Splendidly "Basque" Ravel from Ondine

Conductor Robert Trevino and his Basque National Orchestra turn in a Ravel disc containing the usual favorites: Bolero, La Valse, Rapsodie espagnole, Pavane for a Dead Princess (plus a couple of others), all played with a refreshingly unusual sense of color and character. The result is one of the best Ravel discs in many a moon. Superb engineering captures every orchestral nuance, from the most delicate to the thrillingly explosive. Check out the samples, and read Victor Carr, Jr's review at ClassicsToday.com.
