Splitting Wood with a Double Bit Ax

A dead-standing Red Oak broken halfway up needed to come down for firewood for the outdoor classroom. Some of the punky top portion split like butter. There was still good, solid wood 2/3's of the way down. This is my method of splitting either ax-cut or saw-cut rounds. I've found this to be the most efficient for me. Your mileage may vary. I've had many say it's not safe. As long as you keep your feet within the frontal zone, glancing blows will miss the body. For info on frontal zone, read our blog post: https://survivalsherpa.wordpress.com/2017/01/26/the-authentic-lumber-sexual-guide-to-ax-work/
