Twin disasters: Budget deficit and unemployment

Economy czar Berat Albayrak is picking and choosing among data to paint a bright picture of the economy. Economists who disagree with him are running the risk of being sued for spreading malicious disinformation. What is Albayrak afraid of? Could it be that budget deficits would reach 3% of GDP this year, and 5% the next? Or that non-farm unemployment reached 16.5% by third quarter with more increases on the way. How did he manage to screw up so badly?
