Fiji BC Episode 3: Arts

Welcome to Fiji BC - A 4 part video podcast series where I learn all about what Fiji looked like in the old days because when it comes to research, I can't even.

Our guest is Mr Simione Sevudredre, the Principal Cultural Officer at the Ministry of iTaukei Affairs. He'll be our tour guide to everything that was Fiji before we had anything recorded on pen and paper.

In the third episode, we immerse ourselves in the Arts, though it definitely took on a different form back then. We look at how various aspects of items were created and for what purposes, such as mats, pottery, even boat building. How the economy of surplus decided what was traded between provinces and nations. And why we didn't used to knock on doors...because we didn't have any.

A big vinaka vakalevu to Mana Coffee for sponsoring the show with a venue to shoot and Dave Lavaki of First Fighter who provided the video production equipment.
