To make such gears, usually you need some complex machines such as a 3D-printer . even though there are a number of gears available in the market that you can buy easily, making one such gear is an interesting task .

This video illustrates an easy and cheep method for making a gear using PVC pipe . the main advantage of this method is that, it can be used to make gears of any size i.e the size of the gear depends on the size of the PVC pipe.
