Lukas 1862 and Mimik first impressions

In this video I swatch and give you my first impressions of the Lukas Aquarell 1862 artists watercolor paints and the Mimik synthetic sable watercolor brushes. The fine folks at Jerry's Artama sent me a set of 48 Lukas Aquarell 1862 half pans. I was really impressed by these paints. The half pans rewet really easily, better in fact than almost every other brand I have tried. In fact these rewet so easily that I these are my new top pick for travel paints. They have a great color intensity and layer well. Some colors have unusual formulations (a three pigment burnt umber made my preferred mixing of burnt umber and indanthrone blue to get a gray more challenging). What makes these paints truly special is the price. These are extremely affordable, 21ml!! tubes run between $7.87 and $10.64! I have paid $20+ for a tube of 10ml paint so this this a great bargain. Because they are so affordable this is my new recommendation for someone wanting to start out with tube paints.

I did struggle a bit to make sense of the brush case but thats not the part that matters. The Mimik Kolinsky Brushes are very impressive. I do have some real Kolinsky that came various sets I have purchased for review. I dont think these are *exactly* like real kolinsky but they are as close as I have seen to the real from a 100% synthetic brush.
