In this VFX QUICKIE, I am going to explain What is a Layer? So basically a layer is a transparent canvas on which you can do whatever it doesn't intact layers below and above. The layer on the top will show first and the bottom layer will be at back.Photoshop layers are like sheets of stacked acetate. You can see through transparent areas of a layer to the layers below. You move a layer to position the content on the layer, like sliding a sheet of acetate in a stack. You can also change the opacity of a layer to make content partially transparent.A layer is simply one image stacked on top of another. Imagine I have a piece of paper and I paint it red. Then I take a piece of clear cellophane and paint a yellow circle, and lay it on the paper. Now I take another piece of cellophane and paint some blue type and lay that on top of the yellow circle.
