Black Headed Python caught and shown

The black headed python is a harmless species of snake, they can sometimes be hard to find but with a keen eye out for snake tracks my efforts prove true to find one slithering along.

This Australian snake is found in the northern half of the country, these snakes are terrestrial and are often found among rocks and loose debris. When disturbed they hiss loudly but are unlikely to bite unless hunting prey. The black headed python is a strong swimmer and is a non-venomous snake, and are handled easily though will sometimes strike with a closed mouth.
