William Shatner American Enterprise "Government" Educational Film 1976 from Star Trek High Def HD

This is an educational film called "Government" with William Shatner who was Captain Kirk from Star Trek. It is one part of a 5 part series of films that looks at what aspects of America make it great. Shatner hosts the program and takes on the role of a specific person and explains things from that viewpoint. The intent of the series is to show different aspects of the US and promote classroom discussion of all of the things that comprise a country.

My personal opinion is that again Bill Shatner does an excellent job. In each of these 5 educational films, he provides excellent narration and is clearly giving a great performance in the roles he takes on within the film. I am sure he never expected anyone to see these films all of these years later. At the time, there was hope Star Trek would come back but no one was sure. Shatner could have "phoned it in", but he didn't. He is committed to the part; clearly knows his monologs, and does a solid delivery.

There is an intentional association with Star Trek due to the "Enterprise" title of the series, although it is not needed to make this a well produced and well acted film.

This transfer is from my personal 16mm print. I posted one previously, and here is another from the series. This series has typically been printed on film stock that has all turned red at this point over the years. This particular reel still has some color. It is also obvious that this specific print has seen a lot of use in classrooms. There are a few small jumps as well as film wear and scratches. It is still likely the best quality most people have ever seen, and may ever see.
