In the books, Charlie's presence is felt throughout the entire series. He's the reason Hagrid's illegal baby dragon makes it safely to Romania in the first year. He's working the dragons at the Triwizard Tournament in Goblet of Fire. While the rest of his family is fighting in Britain, he's in Romania doing something just as important — recruiting foreign wizards to join the Order of the Phoenix and fight against Voldemort. He's building alliances across borders while his family holds the line at home.
And then comes the Battle of Hogwarts. When things look their darkest, it's Charlie who leads the reinforcements through the front gates — hundreds of people, the families and friends of Hogwarts students, the shopkeepers of Hogsmeade — and changes the entire course of the battle. It's one of the most important moments in the final book. And it never made it to the screen.
