‘Stop living in the 50s’ and ‘legalise cannabis’ says Greens Senator
Greens Senator David Shoebridge says Australia should “stop living in the 50s” and legalise cannabis like “the rest of the world".
Mr Shoebridge has introduced a bill to legalise cannabis in Australia which includes the total de-criminalisation for recreational use.
Medical professionals are insisting recreational cannabis use is harmful.
“You can take billions and billions of dollars out of organised crime, put it into legitimate businesses, make the products safer, generate taxes in the meantime to have [more] schools and hospitals, and get 80,000 people out of the criminal justice system all at once,” he said.
“Surely this is a no-brainer.
“We should follow the rest of the world and stop living in the 50s and legalise cannabis.”
