Today I'm sharing a small Thrift Haul and we will be making over a few of these items for an upcoming Neighborhood Vendor Market that I'm participating in. Items were purchased from Spectrum Thift Store in Saint Johns, Fl.
~The rolling pin is painted with Behr Chalk Paint I get from Home Depot, and has been color matched to my craft room curtains. Their color "Surf" is pretty close to my custom color. Handles are sealed with several coats of Minwax Matte Clear Polycrylic. Rolling pin body is sealed with Howard's Butcher Block Conditioner.
~The candlesticks are painted in Rustoleum White Linen chalk paint. A damp rag is used to wet distress them. They are then brushed with Folk Art Clear Wax and buffed with a Kiwi Shoe Shine brush.
~Our cute little bird feeder is made by gluing a pot lid to a quart size mason jar. The screw on base can be purchased from Tractor Supply, or other hardware stores.
~The cross is painted in Waverly Chalk Paint in Plaster. The edges are slightly sanded and the piece is sealed with Folk Art clear wax. The medallion is reattached and cute buttons from Hobby Lobby are added for charm.
~Using the new Iron Orchid Designs (IOD) Cameo Mould, I create an air dry clay (DAS clay) applique for my lovely painted silver teapot. Attached with Titebond glue and given layered wax colors for a beautiful Kinda Shabby finish!
~For our final project, we take a plain pine board and turn it into a worn, aged work of art! After painting our board in Waverly Silver Lining, clay appliques are made from the Iron Orchid Designs (IOD) Classic Elements Mould. I then use a damp sea sponge from Michael's to lightly layer on paint. Colors used in Waverly Chalk Paint: Mineral, Steel, and Hazelnut. To finish off our masterpiece, the word "ANTIQUES" is stamped on the center using Iron Orchid Designs (IOD) Stamp in Typesetter. The board is then sealed with clear wax.
