Makiki Tantalus Punchbowl Papakolea Walk with Peter Nature Bird Sounds November 15, 2020. We take a long walk around Makiki, to Punchbowl, Papakolea, and Tantalus as we reminisce about our past growing up and stuff going on. We start our walk in the dark before sunset and on Green Street. We head the stairs to up Spencer Street and Alapai Street, then head up Prospect Street and go right on Puowaina Drive until we get to the gates and visitor center at Punchbowl also known as National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. The gates are closed so we head up Papakolea on Tantalus Drive for a while and stop at one of the lookouts and then back down to Makiki Height's Drive. We check out the gate at the Hawaii Nature Center next to the Makiki Arboretum Trail and then we head back down Makiki Heights Drive until we get to Makiki Street. We turn left on to Nehoa Street, then right on Punahou Street, and then another right on to Dominis Street. (On the map I made a mistake and showed we went to Wilder Ave but, we didn't sorry.) When we get to Makiki Street we turn left and a right on to Heulu Street. We end our 2 1/2 hour walk when we get to Ke'eaumoku Street. Enjoy!
