How world war 2 began?

World War I, also known as the Great War, was sparked by the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary in Sarajevo on June 28, 1914. This act, committed by a Serbian nationalist, triggered a chain of events leading to the war. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, and due to a complex web of alliances, other European powers were drawn into the conflict.
