During the Shibuya Arc we’ve seen in the most recent episodes how Nanami Kento is stumbling through the streets with half of his body singed and hanging off thanks to the efforts of Jogo who is no longer around anymore, however in the Jujutsu Kaisen databook we learn that Nanami’s ending was actually decided early on, as when Gege initially came up with the idea for the Shibuya Incident he thought to himself that he really liked Nanami as a character and how easy he is to maneuver through the story, however when Gege thought about how the plot would advance and how things would move on from here, he felt like this would be the only point in the story where it would make sense to give Nanami a big send off, so he knew this was the only way. It’s a shame because Nanami would’ve been really interesting in the Culling Games arc with his grey morals, because in the Databook we also learn that when Geto became a Curse User and betrayed Jujutsu Tech, Nanami more or less understand exactly how he felt and didn’t blame him for doing what he did, however this didn’t keep him from doing his job like he always does as a Jujutsu Sorcerer.
