Manson entered his androgynous glam phase with the same eye for provocation he used in his shock-metal days. His 1998 performance of “The Dope Show” didn’t have one specific thing that would send office workers running for the water cooler, but altogether was a spectacle of things that just haven’t been seen on TV before. Manson wore prosthetic breasts, rail-thin actor and polio survivor Goddess Bunny cut a striking figure in drag and a phalanx of male cop dancers started making out with each other.
