Malaysian mixed doubles star Toh Ee Wei faces an anxious wait until Monday to discover the severity of her left knee injury.

National doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky confirmed the player will undergo an MRI scan to determine the full extent of the damage.

The world number four Chen Tang Jie and Ee Wei conceded a walkover during their Singapore Open quarter-final match against India.

Ee Wei twisted her knee late in the opening game and was completely unable to continue the match.

The devastating setback has now cast major doubt over the pair's participation in next week's prestigious Indonesia Open.

Writing on social media, an emotional Ee Wei admitted that injuries are every athlete's biggest fear.

She revealed it was the first time retiring in the middle of a match, and it hurts more than she can truly put into words.
