Penny Lane by Herons' Moor - A Dandy's History Detectives Learning Extra

In July of 1963, when they were on the brink of worldwide fame, the Beatles performed at the Odeon cinema in Weston-super-Mare. They performed 12 times across 6 days, visited the local sights and stayed at the Royal Pier Hotel.
To explore this bit of Weston's history, the Year 5 children at Herons' Moor have been joining us in learning to sing one of the Beatles most famous hits - Penny Lane.
The children have even written their own versions of Penny Lane and swapped some of the Liverpool references for lyrics that are based a little closer to home!

This video is a learning extra to link in with a 'Dandy's History Detectives Teacher's Pack'. This is part of a High Street Heritage Action Zone project, which is a collaboration between North Somerset Council, Weston Museum and other organisations, and is funded through Historic England.
