NORTHROP GRUMMAN CARGO SHIP TAKES OFF FOR THE SPACE STATION
An unpiloted Northrop Grumman resupply ship launched from the Wallops Flight Facility, Virginia Feb. 20, carrying several tons of supplies and scientific experiments for the crew on board the International Space Station. The Cygnus spacecraft – dubbed the “SS Katherine Johnson” – after the NASA mathematician who gained fame in the movie “Hidden Figures”, is scheduled to arrive at the complex Feb. 22, where NASA astronaut Mike Hopkins will use the station’s robotic arm to reach out and capture the craft before flight controllers take over to install the vehicle to the Earth-facing port of the Unity module for a two-and-a-half month stay.
