Van Halen and Michael Anthony helped lay the foundation and kicked open the door everyone is walking through right now. But not everyone was on board. Several superstars tried to sabotage Van Halen on when they were rookies including Ted Nugent, who wouldn't give them a soundcheck and Aerosmith snubbed them but Van Halen took it as a challenge and rocked harder as their debut album Van Halen outsold both of them with classic like Running With the Devil and you Really Got Me. It’s time for another episode of our series Revelations, where featured artists reveal rare stories about their greatest songs. And if you haven’t guessed by now, today we have a founding member of my favorite rock band of all time… Van Halen. bassist and backing vocalist extraordinaire Michael Anthony. You gotta see this interview. Michael tells us the funny story of meeting Eddie and Dave for the first time, and they borrowed his PA for a gig, also how dozens of guitarists would go under cover to try to steal Eddie’s Genius… It got so bad they were sneaking around their rehearsal space, and Eddie had to turn his back to the audience to keep his secrets, and how the rookie band got sabotaged by other bands when they were coming up because they were afraid of this band’s ferocity and the story behind their perfect 1978 debut including, Running With the Devil, Aint talking Bout Love, Jamie’s Crying and Eruption. This one’s a can’t-miss next on Professor of Rock.
