Who am I? The struggle to be oneself

Who am I? Who is my authentic self? Becoming who I truly am is a painful process of self-discovery, self-knowledge and change. We must accept who we are, even is we do not like ourselves and we find it difficult to forgive ourselves. Never pretend to be someone else. I am who I am, a sinful and fallen human being, and this is where my journey to my true self must begin. This is the only possible foundation for any real change, for any future growth. We begin from the hell of our present self and - step by step - we start on a slow journey to who God intended us to be when He created us.

Fr Seraphim from the Orthodox Monastery of All Celtic Saints on the Isle of Mull in Scotland responds to some of the comments we received following our video about St Brendan the Navigator.

English, German and Russian SUBTITLES are available.
