Breaking Chords - String-Skipping Arpeggios
Here's the next episode of Breaking Chords with String-Skipping Arpeggios.
This lesson takes a look at a series of arpeggio concepts utilizing string-skipping movements across the strings and around the neck. This style of arpeggio playing can be heard/found in the music of guitar legends such as Paul Gilbert, Nuno Bettencourt, John Petrucci, Buckethead, and many others.
String-skipping allows your fretting hand to perform complex arpeggio movements by jumping (or "skipping") over strings, which creates interesting spaces (or "jumps") between the notes you're playing. String-skipping through arpeggios allows you to easily sequence and stir the notes of an arpeggio around while allowing legato phrasing and additional performance techniques with ease.
Once you get a feel for string-skipped arpeggios and movements in your music, you'll quickly realize how useful this style of arpeggio playing actually is and gain access with creating interesting sequences and melodic variations when using/performing arpeggios.
