#11 Great Britain in Focus - Bp John Keenan, Roy Peachey & Fiorella de Maria

In this episode:
1. Kevin Turley and Bishop John Keenan take a walk around Paisley, starting at the historic Paisley abbey. They discuss the history of the Catholic Church in Scotland and explore St. Pope John Paul II’s ideas on nationhood and how they can be applied to the Scottish context.

2. James McCullough and Roy Peachey speak about his book “did Jesus go to School?” They explore themes relating to parenting, home education and the rights and responsibility of Catholic parents to be the primary educators of their children. Roy explains the idea and value of a liberal arts education. They discuss the problems with secular education, in particular the danger of scientism and gender ideology which are being enforced, and speak about the importance of placing children in environments which foster the flourishing of human nature.

3. Kevin Turley and Fiorella de Maria meet in Regents Park, close to the home of Sherlock Holmes, and discuss the genre of Catholic crime fiction. They explore important influences that Christianity has on famous Crime fiction authors, especially with regards to seeking the truth and seeking Justice, as Chesterton’s Fr. Brown so clearly brings to light. Fiorella discusses her latest novel “See no Evil” (Ignatius Press), which is set post World War II and the protagonist in her story, Fr. Gabriel, who is portrayed as an English Benedictine.
