Two Minutes of Anatomy: Adductor Brevis
Adductor Brevis
Origin: Anterior surface of Inferior Ramus & body of Pubis.
Insertion: Lesser Trochanter & Linea Aspera of Femur.
Innervation: Obturator Nerve L2-L4.
Concentric Action: Hip adduction.
Adductor Longus
Origin: Pubic body just below Pubic Crest.
Insertion: Middle third of Linea Aspera.
Innervation: Anterior branch of Obturator Nerve L2-L4.
Concentric Actions: Hip adduction & flexion.
Gracilis
Origin: Inferior border of Pubic Body near Symphysis.
Insertion: Proximal medial surface of Tibia. Pes Anserine.
Innervation: Obturator Nerve L3-L4.
Concentric Actions: Hip adduction, hip internal rotation & hip flexion.
Adductor Magnus
Origin: Inferior Pubic Ramus, Ischial Ramus & inferolateral area of Ischial Tuberosity.
Insertion: Gluteal Tuberosity of Femur, Medial lip of Linea Aspera, Medial Supracondylar Ridge & Adductor Tubercle.
Innervation: Posterior division of Obturator Nerve innervates most of it. Vertical (hamstring) portion innervated by Tibial Nerve. L2-L4.
Concentric Actions: Hip adduction, hip flexion & hip extension.
Pectineus
Origin: Pectineal Line of Pubic Bone.
Insertion: Pectineal Line of Femur.
Innervation: Femoral Nerve L2, L3 (Twenty percent of population Accessory Obturator Nerve L3, L4).
Concentric Actions: Hip adduction & hip flexion.
Obturator Externus
Origin: Obturator foramen.
Insertion: Posterior aspect of greater trochanter.
Innervation: Obturator Nerve L2-L4.
Concentric Actions: Hip adduction & lateral rotation.
