Eggshells are made of calcium carbonate. Tomatoes and vegetables use calcium. Eggshells need to breakdown into a usable form for garden vegetables and tomatoes. I discuss this process and how to use vinegar to chemically breakdown the eggshell and make calcium. Blossom end rot is associated with calcium issues in tomato plants.
