Why do we need Superheroes? With Bettany Hughes and Neil Gaiman
Celebrate World Storytelling day and answer some of life’s big questions in the time it takes to have a cup of tea.
Author and historian Prof. Bettany Hughes is calling on friends and world-renowned experts to discover how art and artefacts can be used as evidence to explore enduring questions across human history.
Neil Gaiman has spent his career exploring all things “super”; penning graphic novels, fantasy fiction and researching mythology. Together, Neil and Bettany examine the 40,000 year-old Löwenmensch figurine to discover that our desire to become more than human is nothing new, and blockbuster superheroes and their fandom have deep historical roots.
