Some people think that helicopters always take-off vertically and land vertically. Well, of course they can but, it puts them in a danger zone, outside what's referred to has the Height Velocity Diagram. If an engine failure happens whilst ascending vertically from the ground, the pilot has little or no time to react and the likelihood of an accident is high. Here Bell talks about doing Maximum Performance or vertical take-offs. It's an amazing experience and a lot of fun, but also quite a risky manoeuvre.
