Retired FBI agent Seamus McElearney, author of *Flipping Capo: How the FBI Dismantled the Real Sopranos*, spoke with VladTV about his role in investigating the DeCavalcante Mafia, the notorious New Jersey crime family that inspired HBO's *The Sopranos*. Growing up in the Bronx, McElearney initially worked in banking before joining the FBI in 1998. Assigned to New York's organized crime unit, he quickly became involved in surveillance operations targeting the DeCavalcante family.

His work centered around protecting and managing proactive witness Ralph Guarino, whose consensual recordings exposed key criminal activities, including murders and robberies linked to the mafia. McElearney detailed how the case began with a failed robbery at the World Trade Center and expanded to implicate the Brooklyn faction of the DeCavalcante family, leading to one of the FBI’s most significant organized crime busts. His book provides an insider’s look into dismantling the “real Sopranos.”

Seamus McElearney’s "Flipping Capo: How the FBI Dismantled the Real Sopranos" is available for purchase on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
