Accepted College Art Portfolio + Tips // NCAD, Crawford

Hi-diddly-ho, welcome to Em's Declassified Portfolio Survival Guide! I wanted to make this video because there aren't many resources online for applying to art college in Ireland and I know it would have been super helpful to me if I had something like this when I was creating my portfolio. I hope you find it useful and that you get into your dream school!
Here's a brief summary of the method for building a great portfolio that I outlined in the vid:
Part 1: Choose an object and create a number of direct observation works of your object.
Part 2: Single out a few key points of inspiration from these pieces and create slightly more abstracted pieces that still relate back aesthetically to your object.
Part 3: Look back on your work so far and consider what themes have come up organically during the process. Create a series of conceptual pieces exploring that theme.
And remember to use as many mediums as possible and include lots of artist research!
