Melbourne City Walk | COVID19 Stage 4 Restrictions | 4K | 3D Binaural Audio

Walking through Melbourne CBD during Stage 4 COVID Restrictions. The state of Victoria has been declared to be in a state of Emergency for almost 6 months, as it attempts to slow the spread of COVID 19. For the past 6 weeks or so it has been under stage 4 restrictions, due to an outbreak thought to have originated from security staff working in hotel quarantine for returned overseas travellers. At the time of filming, the rate of new infections had decreased to around 100 per day from a peak of 720 per day, sadly Victoria recently recorded its 500th death attributed to the virus. Mostly all other Australian states have either zero or very low rates of infection and have been free to move around within their respective states, although interstate travel is still heavily restricted across all states and territories.

The restrictions are considered by some to be the most severe out of all western countries worldwide;

This includes a curfew from 8pm to 5am every evening. During this time people are only allowed to leave their house for work, and essential health, care or safety reasons.
From 5am – 8pm, you can only leave your home for one of the following reasons:
-Necessary goods and services, with limits
-Exercise for maximum of 1 hour per day up to 5km from your home
-Care and health care (including taking a pet to the vet)
-Work in line with restrictions on workplaces
-Some limited personal reasons such as in an emergency.
-Mandatory wearing of face masks at all times
There are on the spot fines of $1652 for non compliance up to a maximum of $10,000.

This was recorded during the last weekend of summer here in Victoria. The weather was particularly nice after several weeks of cold and wet weather, and as a result there were many people out and about, by far the most I have have seen over the past two months.

The walk goes along Southbank following the Yarra river, around the boat sheds, past Flinders Station, along Swanston street before turning west down Bourke St Mall which is usually the busiest area of the city.
